BAND INFORMATION




THRESHOLD OF SLEEP was formed in late 1991 by Scott Houston, Dwayne Cathey, & Richard Ramirez in Houston, Texas. Ramirez had already formed Black Leather Jesus and was working on various projects. Cathey was working with local indie rock bands and solo work. Houston was also working on solo noise work outside of the band.

Threshold of Sleep were only active for about 2 years. The band had done a few live shows before calling it quits. Houston and Ramirez continued with Black Leather Jesus. Cathey continued with his own projects (Brain Tea, Trifle). Ramirez and Cathey briefly worked together again on the project, Powdered Beatles.

Dwayne Cathey currently works with an experimental project called, Gun Run. He also does music for films.

Scott Houston continues his own solo projects including, Respirator.

Ramirez continues to work with various projects including Werewolf Jerusalem, Black Leather Jesus, Priest in Shit, An Innocent Young Throat-Cutter, and many others. He also runs his own experimental/noise label, Deadline and Room 2A.

Several years after the band split, the remainder of their recordings came out for a few years. In 2005, "A Catalog of Viruses" was released. An unreleased recording done before the split. 2007, "Twins of Evil" was released as a one off/special edition release as part of "Noise/Art" series on Deadline. The material was reworkings of previous material.

In fall of 2012, Threshold of Sleep reunited (Oct. 12) for a show in Houston, TX at Vinal Edge. The band also recording some new material that became the release, "We Act in Darkness" (released on Deadline Recordings in 2012).

In 2014 saw the release, "Buried Archives 1992-1995 Volume One", a collection of the releases: "Scarecrow", "Behind Enemy Lines", and "Collection 2". It was released on Deadline Recordings. It can be found on the Discogs for sale.

In 2015 saw the release, "Floor Fragments through Intercourse", an unreleased, found tape from around '92. It has been released by Room 2A (look on our "Links" page).
